I saw on T.V. one time about removal of rust from metal using a certain
fluid plus a metal rod to a battery with an electrical currant going thru the rod into fluid, and then by putting the rusty tool or whatever metal
into the fluid it charged the rust all off and came out rust free.

Hmm…Sounds like a science project, but I would suggest you simply go ahead and invest in a really good rust removal.
